Sis. Janiver Brown Memorial Site and Funeral Video
This site is to honor the memory of our beloved Pastor's wife, Janiver Brown.
On the 25th of December, 1956, a Christmas gift was delivered to James and Sarah McClelland of Salinas, California. She was called "Janiver", a name created by her father who wanted her to be one of a kind. She was welcomed by two older siblings, Edwina and Alvin. She was later joined by another sister, Joan. Janiver soon developed the traits of her parents; honesty, hard work, respect and working together. As a child she showed early signs of being a peacemaker and deeply caring for those who were hurting. Her spiritual sensitivity led her at an early age to repent, and be baptized in the Name of Jesus and received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost according to Acts 2:38. Janiver was proud of her brother Alvin, who served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Her sister, Edwina, was a second mother to her and Joan was her companion and confidant. After graduating from Salinas High School she went on to the local Community College. She later transferred to a Christian College in Portland, Oregon where she met her husband to be, Clayton Brown. They were married on December 22, 1977 and enjoyed a honeymoon for the next 32 years. They worked together with Youth Ministry in Oregon for 4 years. In 1981 they moved to Napa, California to assist founding Pastor Paul Price at New Life Tabernacle. Four children were added to their family: Stanley, Bethany, Sarah and Nathaniel while here in Napa. Janiver’s family was her primary ministry and she lovingly poured herself into their lives in every possible way. She also served in the church as a counsellor, mentor, Sunday School teacher, in Ladies Ministries, as Secretary and as a listening ear to many. Her depth of spiritual sensitivity, wisdom and gentle spirit drew hurting people to confide in her. She faced her deepest challenge when in 2003 she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Over the next 6 years she battled with dignity and grace. The strength of her quiet spirit was a testimony to all who came in contact with her. On January 3, 2010 she passed from this life to her eternal one. She will be greatly missed by her family and congregation. She is survived by a host of family and loved ones who hope to see her again on that glorious Resurrection Day.
Our heartfelt ‘thanks’ to our Church leadership and congregation for every act of love shown to the Brown family during this time of loss. Our gratitude also to every friend who touched Janiver’s life; to each Kaiser professional who lovingly cared for her, and to the wonderful staff at Treadway and Wigger Funeral Chapel.
Finally, we are eternally grateful to our Saviour, Jesus Christ, for bringing Sis. Brown into our lives and for making a way where we can be together again, forever with Him!
